Dear Host Family,

It is a pleasure to introduce myself to you! My name is Lahatriniaina, which means “destiny of life” in English, but you can also call me Mariah. It is easier to pronounce, and I am used to it!

I am 24 years old, and I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Management and Administration in early October.

I come from a beautiful island called Madagascar. My country is famous for its unique wildlife, especially lemurs, which are animals that look a little like monkeys and live naturally only in Madagascar. They have big, beautiful eyes and love jumping from branch to branch! We also have magnificent baobab trees, which are enormous trees with unusual shapes that sometimes look as if they are growing upside down. And of course, rice is our staple food, so we eat it almost every day!

I grew up in a large family, which helped me become outgoing, caring, and comfortable around others. I am very excited about the opportunity to become an au pair and enjoy an enriching cultural experience in the United States. I cannot wait to share wonderful moments with your family and become a responsible, caring big sister to your children.

I have several years of experience working with children. I have worked as an after-school activities leader, organizing and supervising activities for children of different ages, from kindergarten to elementary school. I have also volunteered to teach French and English to students ranging from approximately six to seventeen years old, including students in ninth- and tenth-grade classes. These experiences have helped me develop my teaching, communication, and classroom management skills.

In addition, I volunteer as an assistant in a nursery school, where I work alongside teachers caring for babies and toddlers under two years old. This experience allows me to develop my childcare skills and gain a better understanding of the needs, development, safety, and well-being of very young children. I am also completing a certification in infant and toddler care, which I will obtain soon.

I enjoy organizing fun and educational activities for children. Through my experiences, I have developed a loving, patient, and creative approach to childcare. I love playing, learning, and having fun with children while always making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I remain calm in challenging situations, and I enjoy finding creative ways to make learning fun!

I am also happy to help with light household chores and take care of pets if needed.
